Trek - Hunza Valley

Hunza Valley

During our trek we went to Karemabad in the Hunza Valley. It is a touristy place with lots of shops and several hotels. We stayed at the Eagle's Nest Hotel as well as the World Roof Hotel.

We got up early to watch the sunrise touch the mountains.

Eating dinner. We won't talk about the food or service!

World Roof Hotel

We stayed at the World Roof Hotel for a night. The food served there was excellent!

Our room. Aaron visiting me and Jenni.
I was resting on the balcony and enjoying the beautiful scenery! The valley is breathtaking!

Packing the Jeep.

Baltit Fort

We walked up these narrow, steep cobblestone roads to tour the Baltit Fort. It is a fort where one of the princes of Pakistan lived, but now it is just a place for tourists to visit.

These streets were so steep, that when we were coming down the hill, my feet wanted to slip out from underneath me!

Many of the doors are beautifully carved out of heavy wood!

We met this group of Pakistani men. They were so excited to meet us and insisted that we take our picture with them ~ or was it them with us ~ we were the only ones with the cameras! It was really random and pretty funny.

Jenni, me and Korine at the Baltit Fort sign

This is part of the Baltit Fort...it was so tall that it was impossible to get me and the entire structure pictured together.

I thought this could be my new home!

Shopping

We spent many hours in this owners shop. Here he is working on a necklace for Aaron and myself.

He took several necklaces apart just so he could custom make exactly what we wanted...and took the best stones from those necklaces just for us!

And the shopping adventure comes complete with complimentary drinks of your choice...or sometimes just Chai!
