This is Basett. He has seizures every 2-3 minutes and has many cuts, sores, and bruises on his face and extremities from his falls. One of the projects I worked on was to construct a helmet for him with raw materials that they can purchase at the bazaar. We constructed this helmet after a model shown in a book. After the construction of this helmet, I was able to make MANY suggestions for better construction of the next helmets! As the saying goes, 'Practice makes perfect'.
Measuring Basett for his helmet.
Smile!
The form...teaching Shamsi what to do.
Working on the frame.
Adding the foam and rubber.
Farzana and I finishing up the last of the helmet.
It was a LOT of hard work and many hours, but I was unable to present it to him before I left. I have wondered how it turned out, or if the girls would have to make another one for him...my helmet was basically a model for other ones.
Looks like a lot of hard work! But it had to be satisfying to present him with the finished product

ReplyDeleteI know that he appreciated it though!
