Food

Apricots...there were two trees at the guest house and I could pick them whenever I wanted.

And, believe me, I ate a LOT! This was the first time I had an apricot! I enjoyed them while they lasted...the Pakistani's start eating them when they are still green, so when they are finally ripe enough to eat, they are about gone! It only took 1 week for both trees to be finished after they were ripe!

Cherries were also in season during my time in Pakistan. Once the girls I worked with found out that I loved cherries, I never was in want! I had plenty to eat and more!

Not only did I enjoy the wonderful fruit, I also enjoyed lots of delicious meals while in Pakistan. We usually had rice with either a curry or jalfrezi sauce with Nan bread AND chicken...Chicken of ALL kinds! I believe I had chicken every day and for at least 2 meals of the day! No, I didn't get tired of chicken. I thought after the first week that I may leave Pakistan and never want to eat another chicken again, but that wasn't the case. :) The food was excellent and I enjoyed most meals.....one thing I didn't like was LASSI.

Lassi is a yogurt based drink that is a very special drink in the summer time for the Pakistani's. I had been told by a friend that Lassi was an amazing drink and that I would love it...when I was served it however, it was NOT good at all. It tasted like the most spoiled curdled milk that I couldn't imagine ever having. It happened when I went to a village home. They offer their best to foreigners and after serving me the drink (made with the ditch water), they sat without their own drink, to watch me drink and ENJOY mine! I had been sick, remember, and the smell itself was about to make me hurl....however, I prayed for extra strength and endurance, and He answered. I managed to finish my drink without it coming back up, and a smile on my face! I was also happy that I was on Flagyl (an antibiotic to help rid my system of the giardia bug) so was hoping any bugs residing in the ditch water would be killed. Well, I never ended up getting sick from that Lassi, Praise the Lord!...and, I was privileged to have Lassi served to me here in the states. The same dear friend that told me I would love it, presented me with sweet Lassi...MUCH better and even enjoyable. Thanks!!

The most wonderful cook! He did such a great job of preparing the meals...each one was excellent!

Patiently waiting to eat...my favorite...Chicken Jalfrezi! I loved it!!!

Ian ready to enjoy his meal of Chicken Curry and Nan bread!
